The 2-day IPAF 3A & 3B course combines theory with extended practical training on scissor lifts, telescopic boom lifts and articulated boom lifts. The longer format gives participants more time to become familiar with the equipment, practise manoeuvres and reinforce safe working procedures.
During the course, participants learn how to prepare the platform for use, check its condition, assess hazards and operate the equipment safely in different working conditions. The training is suitable for both beginners and people who want to further develop their IPAF 3A and 3B skills.
Theory
During the theory part, participants learn:- basic information about Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs),
- the key features of IPAF 3A and 3B category equipment,
- the design and use of scissor lifts, telescopic boom lifts and articulated boom lifts,
- safe working at height,
- operator duties and responsibilities,
- equipment inspection procedures before use,
- hazard identification and risk assessment,
- stability principles and safe positioning of the platform,
- requirements for personal protective equipment (PPE),
- emergency procedures.
Practical Training
During the practical part, participants practise:- carrying out pre-use checks on the machine,
- preparing the work area and equipment,
- operating the lift from both the ground controls and the platform,
- driving and manoeuvring the platform,
- operating IPAF 3A category lifts,
- operating IPAF 3B category lifts,
- raising, lowering and positioning the platform correctly,
- using the boom safely,
- responding to unusual and emergency situations,
- finishing work correctly and securing the equipment.
Exam
The course ends with:- a theory exam,
- a practical exam.

No. The PAL Card is not included in the course price. It can be ordered separately for an additional fee in line with the current price list.
