The course has been designed for beginners who want to gain the basic knowledge and skills related to operating a forklift.
During the classes, participants work on modern training equipment and learn the rules of safe work in a warehouse environment. The programme combines theory with practice, so trainees can prepare for the real duties of an operator.
Theory part
During the theory part, the participant learns:
- the health and safety regulations and the rules for safely operating forklifts,
- the operator’s duties and responsibilities,
- the construction and operating principle of the forklift,
- topics related to truck stability, the centre of gravity and load capacity,
- the types of loads and the rules for transporting them safely,
- the organisation of work in warehouses and traffic routes,
- the most common hazards during operator work,
- how to act in emergencies,
- checking the technical condition of the truck before starting and after finishing work.
Theory exam
- a test checking knowledge of the safe operation and use of the forklift.
Practical part
During the practical classes, the participant learns:
- how to prepare the truck for work and carry out a technical inspection,
- how to operate the forklift correctly,
- how to carry out manoeuvres with and without a load,
- how to lift, transport and set down pallets,
- how to work at warehouse racking,
- how to load and unload goods safely,
- how to operate the truck smoothly and efficiently in daily working conditions.
Practical exam
- carrying out operational tasks independently using the forklift,
- an assessment of skills in line with the applicable safety rules and operator work standards.
The course lasts 1 day and includes:
- a theory part
- practical classes
- a theory exam
- a practical exam
To take part in the one-day forklift course, the participant must:
- be at least 18 years of age,
- hold a valid identity document (ID card or passport).
Note: a driving licence is not treated as proof of identity.
Who is this course for?
The training is intended for people who:
- have experience operating forklifts or basic technical knowledge,
- want to renew or confirm their operator qualifications,
- are fully physically and mentally fit,
- can safely carry out work using internal transport equipment.

The training ends with a theory and a practical exam. Obtaining the certificate is conditional on passing both parts of the exam in line with the instructor’s requirements.
