The IPAF 3A hybrid course combines online theory with practical training on scissor lifts at our training centre in Gliwice. You complete the e-learning part at your own pace, while the in-person training focuses on hands-on operation of the equipment.
During the course, you learn the principles of safe working at height, operator responsibilities, how to identify hazards, and how to check the lift before starting work. The practical part prepares you to safely manoeuvre and operate IPAF 3A category scissor lifts.
Theory – Online
- basic information about Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs),
- design and use of IPAF 3A category lifts,
- safe working at height,
- operator duties and responsibilities,
- hazard identification and risk assessment,
- equipment checks before starting work,
- safe operating procedures,
- personal protective equipment (PPE),
- emergency procedures,
- preparation for the exam.
Practical Training – In Person
- checking the lift before use,
- preparing the equipment and work area,
- operating a scissor lift,
- operating the controls from the platform and ground level,
- driving and manoeuvring,
- raising and lowering the platform,
- positioning the equipment correctly,
- carrying out tasks safely at height,
- responding to emergency situations,
- parking and securing the equipment after use.
Exam
- theory exam,
- practical exam.
Theory: online, completed independently
Practical training and exam: 1 day in person in Gliwice- at least 18 years old,
- a valid ID card or passport,
- a suitable level of health and fitness to take part safely in the practical training,
- appropriate work clothing,
- safety footwear,
- required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Participants should bring their own protective equipment. If they do not have the required PPE, the necessary equipment can be rented from Bonapi for an additional fee in line with the current price list.
The course is available in English and in other language versions depending on the schedule.

GliwiceThe exam includes both a theory and practical part. To successfully complete the course, you must pass both parts of the exam.
The IPAF PAL Card is not included in the course price. After passing the exam, you can order the card for an additional fee in line with the current price list.
Initial requirements:
You must be at least 18 years old, have a valid ID, and be fit enough to take part safely in the practical training.
